The ACT is a standardised exam for students who are applying to universities at the undergraduate level. The test is pencil-paper based and provides multiple choice questions. The test, conducted by ACT, Inc, measures student’s college readiness and provides common data for colleges to assess all the applicants.

ACT 2019 Eligibility

There is no such eligibility criteria for the ACT. A student can be studying in 6th grade can also apply. Though, there might be eligibility conditions set by the individual college or institution where a student is applying. A student must take the exam at least two prior to university deadline, as the declaration of the result takes two to eight months.

Applying for ACT 2019

For application, a student needs to register online at the official site of ACT which is https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act-non-us/registration.html for non-US students. The registration process works only till four weeks prior to the exam date. The exam is conducted in the months of April, June, September, October, and December. The fees of exam is $103.5 for international applicants. The test fees provide you with your test report and a choice of sending your report to four colleges of your choice.

Sending ACT 2019 Scores

Almost all US based universities and some universities based in Europe accept ACT score. The student’s ACT score can be sent through the ACT web account. The ACT fees allows students to send four free test reports. These four test reports can be individually sent to the university of students’ choice. Other than that, a student can apply to other universities with a charge of $12 per university.

ACT 2019 Score calculation

English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science sections have individual score ranging from 1 to 36. There is an optional writing test with a score range from 1 to 12. The overall scoring of test is done by taking the average of all sections excluding the optional writing section.

ACT 2019 Exam Syllabus

The ACT has a total of five sections, including an optional writing section. The english section is a forty five minutes test with seventy five questions testing students on usage and rhetorics. The mathematics section is a sixty minutes test with sixty questions testing students on topics such as algebra and geometry. The reading section is thirty five minutes test with forty questions testing students on comprehension skills. The science section is again a thirty five minutes test with forty questions testing students on skills such as interpretation, analysis, and problem solving. The optional writing section is forty minutes test with one essay prompt testing students on writing skills.
